Surprising news just before the NHL free agency opens: Alex Burrows is leaving the Montreal Canadiens organization.
Renaud Lavoie announced the departure of the Quebec native as assistant coach under Martin St-Louis.
The former NHL player has been behind the bench for the Canadiens or the Rocket since 2018.
"Alex Burrows will not return behind the bench for @CanadiensMTL next season as he wants to spend more time with family. It's his choice, not the team's. However, he is expected to have another role within the organization. @TVASports"
