The Edmonton Oilers are in a tough spot. The Canadiens could potentially help Stan Bowman clear some salary.

Cody Ceci has a contract that is too high for the Oilers. They must trade him before losing Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg.
The two former first-round picks have received hostile offers from the St. Louis Blues. If Stan Bowman doesn't act, he risks losing both young players.
Kent Hughes has the capacity to take on Ceci's salary and acquire compensation in return, similar to the deal with Sean Monahan when he was traded from the Flames.
But what would the compensation be if that happens? The Canadiens' general manager is always creative in such trades, aiming to get a high pick while accommodating his counterpart and absorbing a large salary.
«But what could this trade yield for Kent Hughes and the Canadiens?

According to the specialized site Puck Pedia, getting rid of a contract like Ceci's would cost the Oilers about a second-round pick.»
