The Montreal Canadiens have just announced that goaltender Jake Allen is the recipient of the Molson Cup for the month of October.

Here's the organization's announcement regarding this:
MONTREAL – Goaltender Jake Allen is the recipient of the Molson Cup for the month of October.

Allen was named the first star of the game on two occasions (October 21st against Washington and October 23rd at Buffalo) and the third star on one occasion (October 28th against Winnipeg). In four games played in October, the 33-year-old goaltender posted a record of 3-0-1, along with maintaining a goals-against average of 2.63. His save percentage of .930 ranks him seventh in the NHL among goaltenders who have played at least four games during this period. Allen became the 14th active goaltender to reach the 400-game mark in the NHL, on November 2nd in Arizona.

A presentation honoring the Molson Cup laureate for the month of October will take place before Tuesday night's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Bell Centre.

Frankly, Allen has delivered excellent performances that have allowed the Canadiens to stay in the game every time to either clinch the victory or push for overtime.
Considering that the veteran's name was one that many fans wanted to see leave among the team's three goaltenders, this comes as a nice surprise.
