In the last few minutes, the General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, has just made an emergency recall from the Laval Rocket. Swedish forward Emil Heineman will join the main club this afternoon to be part of the lineup for Saturday night's game against the New York Rangers.
Following the 6-1 defeat against the Buffalo Sabres and the poor performance of several forwards, a call-up seemed increasingly likely, especially since the Canadiens only had eleven forwards in their lineup. It is hoped that the addition of Emil Heineman will invigorate Montreal's offense and provide new options for Martin St-Louis.
The 22-year-old forward, drafted 43rd overall in 2020, has played two games with the Canadiens this season. Since his arrival in North America, the Canadiens' prospect has performed well, scoring nine goals and six assists (15 points) in 21 games with the Laval Rocket.
