Minutes before their matchup against the Buffalo Sabres, the Montreal Canadiens made a very interesting announcement regarding their captain, Nick Suzuki. The 23-year-old forward will participate, for the third consecutive year, in the prestigious NHL All-Star Game, which will be held in Toronto from February 1st to 3rd.
This is a well-deserved honor for the number 14 of the Canadiens, who currently leads in three significant categories for the team: goals scored (12), assists (22), and total points (34).
It's truly interesting to see the centerman produce in such a manner, especially considering the significant offensive elements that the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge have lost to injuries. Following a 66-point harvest last year, Suzuki has clearly stepped up his game, as he is on track to have the best season of his career.
If there were any doubts about his ability to achieve point-per-game seasons, he is clearly demonstrating that he has the necessary skills to become a quality offensive center in the NHL. The CH's captain is on pace to accumulate 73 points at his current rate, a feat that hasn't been achieved since Alex Kovalev in 2007-2008 for the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge.
Certainly, Nick Suzuki is having another remarkable season, showcasing why the organization's management decided to make him the 31st captain of the team.
