Will Marc Bergevin soon be fired by the Kings?
The trade between the Los Angeles Kings and the Washington Capitals, involving Pierre-Luc Dubois and Darcy Kuemper, has sparked considerable discussion.
This transaction occurred just before Dubois' no-move clause was set to activate on July 1st.
Initially, the Kings had traded away several young talents and a 2nd round pick to acquire Dubois, followed by an 8-year, $68 million contract.
Less than a year after this acquisition, they traded him for Kuemper, who had lost his starting position in Washington.
SDPN network analyst Adam Wylde raised questions about the possible influence of Marc Bergevin, special advisor at the Kings, in this decision.
Bergevin had previously shown interest in Dubois during his tenure as GM of the Canadiens.
"How curious is it that, following the arrival in Los Angeles of the man who was eager to bring Pierre-Luc Dubois to Montreal, the Kings were suddenly willing to go to great lengths to acquire Dubois? I don't believe it's a coincidence. If it's Bergevin, and I believe it is, Rob Blake should seriously question whether it's justified to keep him in the organization.

However, Rob Blake, GM of the Kings, acknowledged that trading for Dubois was a mistake, taking full responsibility for this decision during a press conference.
