The news just broke that the Edmonton Oilers have decided not to match the offer sheets for Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway.
Broberg received a two-year offer worth $4.58 million, while Holloway was offered $2.29 million for the same duration.
This decision is surprising, as both players were former first-round picks by the Oilers. The St. Louis Blues appear to have achieved their goal by securing these young talents, thereby strengthening their group of players under 25 years old.
In return, Edmonton will receive second and third-round draft picks.
