The verdict is in for Jonathan Drouin
Jonathan Drouin, former forward for the Montreal Canadiens, made a surprising statement in a press conference about his future.
While he could sign a more lucrative contract elsewhere, Drouin expressed his desire to stay with the Colorado Avalanche.
"I would love to come back with the Avalanche next year. I loved my time here, and so did my whole family," said Jonathan Drouin.
This statement contrasts with recent speculation that had him playing in Europe.
According to well-known insider David Pagnotta, Drouin is certain to stay in Colorado despite the team's financial challenges. Pagnotta stated, "The fit is too logical."
Although the Avalanche is financially constrained, Drouin could earn more than the $825,000 he made last season after having his best season with 56 points in 79 games.
At 29, he was one of the team's top scorers, behind Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and Cale Makar.
