The Montreal Canadiens will have the opportunity to acquire a second first-round pick this year. They will be able to select another player in the first round with the 26th overall pick, provided there is no trade like last year.
The media outlet The Athletic recently conducted a simulated first-round draft for the upcoming annual draft.
Several intriguing prospects are expected to be available for the Canadiens at this point in the first round. The platform believes, as fans hope, that the Tricolore will choose a forward and possibly a center.
"Centers like (Cole) Beaudoin, (Michael) Hage, and (Sacha) Boisvert would make sense here if any of them are available." - Scott Wheeler, The Athletic.
Here are the potential targets for the Canadiens according to them:
"Beaudoin: 62 points in 67 games in the OHL, 6'2 center Hage: 75 points in 54 games in the USHL, 6'1 center Boisvert: 68 points in 61 games in the USHL, 6'2 center Pettersson: 57 points in 44 games in the Swedish junior league, 5'11 center

Two years ago, the Habs selected Filip Mesar with this same pick. Kent Hughes could very well use this choice to make a trade.
