Juraj Slafkovsky makes a request to Kent Hughes live on air
Following a stunning 2-1 victory against the Colorado Avalanche, Slovak forward Juraj Slafkovsky took advantage of the presence of journalists to make a special request to Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
As you know, the Tricolore's number 20 made history within the organization last night, becoming the first player under 20 years of age to score 40 points in a single season, thereby surpassing Mario Tremblay's mark of 39.
It's indeed a noteworthy achievement considering all the talented players who have been part of the Montreal team over the years!
Indeed, Juraj Slafkovsky, who has accumulated 22 points in his last 24 games, would like to get permission from the management to represent Slovakia at the upcoming World Hockey Championship.
"Well aware that he could become the first player under 20 years of age in CH history to have a 40-point season, Slafkovsky would like to extend his year and represent Slovakia at the world championship...if the management gives him permission, he adds." - Via Luc Gélinas
Of course, he will need to receive permission from Kent Hughes before he can wear his country's uniform. However, given that he has publicly disclosed his intentions, it would be surprising if the CH's GM denied him such an opportunity to play additional games.
Moreover, such an experience, where he would have the chance to play significant games against NHL players, could be very beneficial for his progress. Let's just say that with the thunderous season he's currently having, the linemate of Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield has excellent arguments to convince the management.
This will be a situation to watch when the regular season is officially over!
