The General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, clearly aimed to address a significant gap in the last draft. Indeed, the management decided to select three goaltenders in hopes of possibly finding the successor to Carey Price for the number one goaltender position.
Moreover, the 18-year-old American, Jacob Fowler, is making a sensational debut in the college ranks. The 69th overall pick in the last draft quickly established himself as the starting goaltender for Boston College, playing in all six games for his team.
Furthermore, the hope of the Tricolore recorded very impressive statistics, boasting a record of five wins and only one loss, all while maintaining a goals-against average of 2.15 and a save percentage of 0.919. His excellent performances earned him the title of goaltender of the month in October in the Hockey East division, a well-deserved achievement that showcases the extent of his talent and very promising potential.
Although it is still too early to assert that he will undoubtedly become the future number one goaltender for the Canadiens, Jacob Fowler knows what he must do to one day become the trusted man of the Montreal organization. One thing is certain, he is willing to do whatever it takes to continue his development and ultimately be a crucial part of the Canadiens' success.
Has the Tricolore finally found its goaltender of the future? Only time will tell, but it's hard to deny that his recent performances allow CH fans to dream. We look forward to following his progress throughout the season!
