While numerous teams were making trades in the NHL, things were relatively quiet for the Canadiens until Kent Hughes made a move yesterday.

Indeed, the CH's general manager sent prospect Jan Mysak to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for the former first-round pick, Quebec right winger Jacob Perreault. Obviously, this personnel move will not go down in history and seems mainly aimed at bolstering the Laval Rocket, but it remains an excellent transaction for the organization.
Both forwards are 21 years old, but the newcomer to the Tricolore is already in his fourth season in the American League, having recorded an average of 0.57 points per game in the professional ranks (91 points in 161 games). The Czech forward, on the other hand, struggles to maintain his spot in Jean-François Houle's lineup, claiming only 0.28 points per game since his debut in the AHL.

A major scoop revealed during the Stanley25 podcast

According to information reported by the guys from the Stanley25 podcast, the reason for this trade has now been revealed. Indeed, according to a well-placed source within the Tricolore, the organization wanted to add a Quebec player if it was going to shed a contract.
For equal contracts, the Canadiens prefer to pick up a Quebec player.

This would explain the transaction that brought Jacob Perreault into the organization this morning.

Moreover, according to a reliable source, which, according to Jean Trudel's words, could potentially be Chantal Machabée, the Canadiens preferred to acquire a Quebecer in such a trade. This would explain why Kent Hughes acquired Jacob Perreault in exchange for Jan Mysak.
Honestly, this is far from bad news, especially since the organization, in my opinion, added the better of the two players involved in this exchange. It will be interesting to see if similar trades will be concluded today and if additional Quebec players will join the Montreal roster.
Certainly, it's a good trade for the CH!
