MAJOR: Martin St. Louis' Actions May Lead to the End of Arber Xhekaj's Time in Montreal

Arber Xhekaj's demotion to the American Hockey League was a major topic yesterday. While the Canadiens confirmed that it wasn't just for health reasons, many in the hockey community have raised suspicions about the organization's decision.

As we mentioned yesterday, Georges Laraque strongly disagreed with the decision to send Xhekaj to Laval. However, what was not known is that Martin St-Louis apparently lost his temper with his defenseman after a loss where Xhekaj was deemed overly aggressive.

"Interesting story from Georges Laraque: he says that Martin St-Louis apparently lost his temper with Xhekaj after a loss, for being too aggressive, and since then, Xhekaj has changed his game for fear of being sidelined.

He then says he wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't finish the year in Montreal."

In his segment on BPM Sports, the former tough guy accuses St-Louis of fundamentally altering Xhekaj's style of play.

"Before, Xhekaj played well and was an intimidating factor. After a game that the Canadiens lost, Martin lost it, scolded him for being too aggressive.

Since that game, Xhekaj hits less and is less physical because he's afraid of getting penalties. [...]"

Laraque even concludes by saying that if the management realizes they no longer need the special aspects that Xhekaj brings to the ice - robustness, physical play, fists, and being an enforcer for his teammates - he believes Xhekaj might not finish the season with the Montreal organization.
