Things are starting to seriously stir behind the scenes of the NHL, a few weeks away from the trade deadline.
Normally, February is always the busiest month in terms of movements, and a major trade is reportedly about to materialize to officially kick things off.
Indeed, according to information reported by the excellent insider Kevin Weekes of ESPN, the Vancouver Canucks and the Calgary Flames are in serious negotiations for the services of Elias Lindholm.
Weekes adds that forward Andrei Kuzmenko would also be part of this potential exchange.
Kent Hughes and the Canadiens are closely monitoring the situation
As we've reported several times in the last few hours, the market for Sean Monahan with the Canadiens is greatly influenced by the presence of Lindholm.
If the Swedish center were to leave in the next few hours, the demand for CH's number 91 is likely to skyrocket among the many teams looking for a center for the end of the season.
The Tricolore will therefore have free rein with the conclusion of this transaction to maximize the possible return for Monahan.
This will be a dossier to closely follow, but it's highly likely that Hughes is currently rubbing his hands together.
This is excellent news for the Montreal organization!
