The NHL has been extremely active in the last few days. Indeed, several trades have been made, and some players, including a few surprises, have been placed on NHL waivers.

Interestingly, some very attractive names were just placed on waivers today, presenting a golden opportunity for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens to improve their lineup.
Specifically, the Hurricanes have placed three players on waivers, including offensive defenseman Tony DeAngelo, raising questions about the upcoming moves in Carolina.
Some experts believe that the Hurricanes' GM, Don Waddell, is preparing for a big trade, which would explain why players like Antti Raanta ($1.5 million), Tony DeAngelo ($1.675 million), and Brendan Lemieux ($800,000) find themselves in such a situation.
Players placed on NHL waivers today:

ˇ Carolina Hurricanes: Brendan Lemieux, Tony DeAngelo, and Antti Raanta
ˇ Toronto Maple Leafs: William Lagesson
ˇ Calgary Flames: Jordan Oesterle
ˇ Chicago Blackhawks: Boris Katchouk
ˇ Florida Panthers: Evan Cormier
ˇ Vegas Golden Knights: Tobias Bjornfot

While goaltender Antti Raanta will clearly not be in the plans for the Tricolore, given that Martin St-Louis already has three goalies in his lineup, Tony DeAngelo could be a very attractive bargain to boost the second power-play unit.
After all, we're talking about a defenseman who was selected 14th overall in the 2014 draft!
His off-ice behavior has been a topic of discussion over the past few seasons, but he remains a highly talented player. In his last four seasons, DeAngelo has reached the 50-point mark twice, accumulating an impressive total of 39 goals and 117 assists (156 points) in 229 games.
Should the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge take a chance by claiming him off waivers?
