Zboril, who was the 13th overall pick by the organization in the highly talented 2015 draft class, will now be available to all teams in the league.
This move also recalls the enormous disaster that was the 2015 draft for the Bruins. With three consecutive selections, Boston picked Zboril, Jake DeBrusk, and Zachary Senyshyn, two of whom were considered very obscure choices by scouts at the time.
The problem is that the three picks that followed were major home runs with Kyle Connor, Mathew Barzal, and Thomas Chabot.
If the organization had chosen Connor and Barzal, who were both ranked much higher than Zboril and Senyshyn on all lists, it's possible to believe that Boston could have won the Stanley Cup in 2019, and maybe even another along the way.
