Minutes after the Montreal Canadiens' morning practice, head coach Martin St-Louis confirmed that defenseman David Savard is nearing a return to play. However, St-Louis noted that Savard would not be ready to face the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night.

"David Savard: a return to play is imminent, but it won't be Thursday, Martin St-Louis told us this morning." - Anthony Martineau

This is excellent news for the Canadiens' defensive lineup, as they can expect reinforcement soon. It's possible that the 33-year-old veteran might rejoin the CH's lineup for the game against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday or against the Nashville Predators on Sunday.
David Savard has been out since the fifth game of the season after suffering a fracture in his left hand while attempting to block a shot by Tage Thompson at the end of the third period on October 23rd.
Savard's return will undoubtedly strengthen Montreal's defense. The Quebec native plays a vital role in Martin St-Louis' team, especially in mentoring the young players.
