MAJOR: Arber Xhekaj's Fate Officially Confirmed
While some fans were worried that Arber Xhekaj might have suffered a serious injury, some great news arrived earlier this morning.
Indeed, during his daily appearance on BPM Sports, Renaud Lavoie confirmed that the 22-year-old defenseman will soon be removed from the injured list, as he could potentially make a return to play on Wednesday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
"We should expect defenseman Arber Xhekaj to be back on Wednesday, against the Blue Jackets, if all goes well." - Renaud Lavoie
Wow! What excellent news for the Montreal defensive brigade!
There still seems to be a small asterisk ("if all goes well") regarding his return to the lineup, but this information confirms that his rehabilitation is going as planned and that number 72 will rejoin Martin St-Louis's team in the very near future.
Absent since the game on November 16th due to a solid check by Ivan Barbashev, Arber Xhekaj has missed the last four games of the Montreal Canadiens.
There's no doubt that his return to play will greatly benefit the team, especially due to injuries to David Savard and Jordan Harris. Therefore, it wouldn't be surprising if Kent Hughes officially announces the good news by sending Swedish defenseman Mattias Norlinder to the American league in the coming days.
Which defenseman do you think will make way when Arber Xhekaj is finally ready to don the Tricolore jersey? Jayden Struble or Gustav Lindstrom?
Personally, I would like the CH to keep Jayden Struble in the lineup. The rookie quickly showed that he definitely belongs in the NHL and he could form a dangerous duo with "Wifi".
