Despite a 3-2 victory against the Buffalo Sabres, a sad piece of news emerged at the end of the first period for the Montreal Canadiens.

Indeed, the veteran Tanner Pearson had to leave the game after receiving a powerful shot to the left hand. While fans hoped he would return for the second period, the organization confirmed that the former Vancouver Canucks forward would have to miss the entirety of the match due to an upper body injury.
« The CH indicates that Tanner Pearson will miss the rest of the match, due to an upper body injury.

He left for the locker room with 1:30 to play in the 1st period. » - Patrick Friolet

Ayoye! What sad news!
After Kirby Dach, David Savard, Jordan Harris, Rafael Harvey-Pinard, and Alex Newhook, the 31-year-old forward, Tanner Pearson, also falls in battle, potentially missing several weeks of activity.
Indeed, according to information reported by Stu Cowan, number 70 suffered an injury to his left hand, having had to miss 68 games due to a similar situation last year, nearly ending his professional hockey career.
« Tanner Pearson will not return to the game tonight, having appeared to be hit in the left hand by a shot. It's the same hand that he broke last season, limiting him to 14 games last season with the Canucks and also putting his career in jeopardy after several surgical interventions. » - Stu Cowan

It seems rather worrying at the moment, but we will have to wait for an official update from the team regarding his health status before jumping to conclusions. Note that Martin St-Louis did not address his veteran's injury during his post-game press conference.
Certainly, we strongly hope it is not a serious injury and that he will be able to rejoin the Montreal lineup in the near future.
