In the last few minutes, the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, Martin St-Louis, revealed some rather worrying information about the health of young defenseman Arber Xhekaj.
Although some observers were expecting him to potentially make a return to play Wednesday night against the Ducks, the organization has just confirmed that number 72 will not be traveling to California with the team.
"The Canadiens state that neither Arber Xhekaj nor Rafael Harvey-Pinard will travel to California with the team today.
It's still possible that Xhekaj and/or RHP could join the team, but if they had a realistic chance of playing, they would travel. Calling Xhekaj day-to-day at this stage doesn't really make sense, but whatever." - Arpon Basu
This means that the chances of seeing the Sheriff rejoin Martin St-Louis' lineup this week are slim, as he will likely miss the games against the Ducks, Sharks, and Kings.
Even though the Canadiens had previously mentioned that it was only a "day to day" injury, everything seems to indicate that Arber Xhekaj could be sidelined for a longer period.
Hopefully, he will be able to return to action soon and possibly come back to play against the Blue Jackets next Wednesday.
