The Montreal Canadiens surprised many observers at the last draft by selecting Arber Xhekaj's brother, Florian, at the 101st pick.

No one saw such a decision coming, especially since the forward from the Brantford Bulldogs had only played one season in the OHL, collecting a modest tally of 13 goals and 12 assists (25 points) in 68 games.
However, the 19-year-old underwent a simply remarkable transformation last summer, growing from 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 4 inches in a matter of months. He notably added a lot of muscle mass, becoming a real monster on the ice.
This completely unexpected growth spurt significantly improved his performance, as he immediately established himself as one of the top forwards on his team. Indeed, his offensive contribution exploded from 25 points the previous year to 65 points this season (34 goals and 31 assists).
Moreover, possessing a temperament as fiery as his older brother's, Florian is not afraid to drop the gloves to defend his teammates against the OHL's best fighters. Indeed, in the second game of the playoffs presented last night, number 43 for the Bulldogs engaged in a fight to try to awaken his teammates.
True to the family reputation, Florian Xhekaj completely demolished his opponent with several powerful punches.
See the fight in question, right here:
While many questioned his selection in the draft, especially since he was picked in the fourth round by the Montreal Canadiens, he could certainly prove his detractors wrong. With an imposing size and a desire to wreak havoc in his path, he could quickly become an important element within Martin St-Louis's fourth line.
Furthermore, his 34 goals this season show that he has a quite interesting offensive potential. It will be captivating to follow his progress over the next few seasons, as many scouts mention he is far from reaching his peak.
Could the Canadiens have found themselves a new Sheriff? Imagine the Xhekaj brothers with the CH, opposing players would keep quiet during their visits to the Bell Centre.
