The Montreal Canadiens are gearing up for the upcoming NHL draft, where they will have the benefit of two first-round selections.
Kent Hughes and the Canadiens' management will take the stage for the 5th overall pick, but they will also have another opportunity, courtesy of the Jets in the Sean Monahan trade. This pick is expected to be around 23rd.
Several potential candidates are already targeted for this second first-round pick. Quebec native Sacha Boisvert is among this group.
Hailing from Trois-Rivières, Boisvert spent the past season in the USHL. He has a good frame and undeniable offensive qualities.
Sacha Boisvert discussed this potential scenario on RDS's show "l'Antichambre":
"I certainly wouldn't say no. Playing in Montreal is a different life from being drafted by another team further away. It would definitely be exciting, with the French language, the fans; it's really special in Quebec. Watching the Canadiens is what got me into hockey in the first place."
