Knowing that the Montreal Canadiens are expected to get a top-7 pick in the upcoming draft, fans of the team are really eager to see which prospect will join the organization on June 28.

Given that Montreal's attack is sorely lacking offensive "punch," many would like to see Kent Hughes select a forward who could join the first two lines composed of Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovsky, Kirby Dach, and Alex Newhook.
Among the names frequently mentioned as potential targets for the Canadiens, players like Ivan Demidov, Cayden Lindstrom, Cole Eiserman, and Berkly Catton often come up. However, Stéphane Gonzalez just dropped a bombshell on BPM Sports, indicating that the management is greatly interested in the center from the Kelowna Rockets, Tij Iginla.
Indeed, according to information disclosed by Gonzo, Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton have met with the prospect at least four times in recent months. While this does not confirm that he will definitely be the player drafted by the Canadiens in the first round, it clearly shows that the Canadiens are interested in the player.
"I've received information that Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton have already met with Tij Iginla four times this year. They hold him in high regard. We'll see what happens, we'll see where he'll be drafted, but for now, what we know is that there have already been four meetings between the player and the Montreal Canadiens." - Stéphane Gonzalez

Wow! That's huge!
It's rather surprising since Jarome Iginla's son is expected to be selected around the 10th or 11th pick, but we can't rule out a big surprise in the coming months. So, don't be surprised if several forwards go in the top-5 and the Montreal Canadiens decide to go for the forward from Lake Country.
Certainly, it will be a situation to closely watch until the end of June!
At 17 years old, Tij Iginla has had remarkable progress this season. Indeed, after a challenging year where he only accumulated 18 points in the WHL in 2022-2023, his offensive contribution exploded this season with an incredible haul of 47 goals and 37 assists (84 points) in 64 games. He has also scored five goals in three playoff games so far.
