Julien BriseBois has built a strong team in Tampa Bay, with the help of Steve Yzerman, but he must now make some heart-wrenching decisions about his lineup.
Being somewhat constrained by the salary cap, the general manager has laid out his plan and priorities for the Lightning for this offseason.
And his decision won't please everyone. The Lightning hopes to negotiate new contracts with two key veterans of the team, but the situation doesn't look easy for the management led by Julien BriseBois.
Informant David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period clarified the situation in his recent article. Here's what the Lightning has prioritized:
"The Tampa Bay Lightning plans to discuss a long-term extension with Victor Hedman's camp this summer, but has given priority to captain Steven Stamkos. Bolts general manager Julien BriseBois wants to first take care of Stamkos, and these conversations should really kick off in early June."
