Trevor Zegras traded to Montreal? Major statement from Elliotte Friedman
Elliotte Friedman from Sportsnet revealed on his podcast 32 Thoughts that Kent Hughes, the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, was very active this summer in strengthening his team with a top-tier forward.
Friedman confirmed that
Trevor Zegras was among Hughes's serious targets.
However, despite the circulating rumors, Friedman does not foresee Zegras being traded to the Canadiens anytime soon.
Instead of Zegras, the Canadiens acquired
Patrik Laine, which Friedman considers a masterstroke.
Laine, 26, recorded 61 points in his last 73 games with the Blue Jackets.
In comparison, Zegras, 23, accumulated 80 points in 112 games with the Ducks. The cost to acquire Laine was significantly lower than that of Zegras, making this addition very appealing for Montreal.
