Trade for Arber Xhekaj: David Pagnotta provides an update
Journalist David Pagnotta revealed that Kent Hughes, General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens, does not plan to trade Arber Xhekaj unless a team makes an exceptional offer.
With the 2024 NHL Draft approaching, many journalists anticipate that the Canadiens might trade a young defenseman.
However, Xhekaj, a fan favorite, seems unlikely to be traded.
Some analysts believe he should only be traded for a player of Connor McDavid's caliber, while others think Montreal should capitalize on his high value.
Pagnotta states that Hughes does not wish to trade Xhekaj but might reconsider if a team overpays.
Xhekaj is therefore expected to stay long-term, while young players like Justin Barron or Jayden Struble are more likely to be traded.
Thus, Hughes prefers to keep Xhekaj, unless an irresistible offer comes along.
