The name Jonathan Huberdeau has often been associated with the Montreal Canadiens.
Now, acquiring Huberdeau is no longer necessary, as the Canadiens have their own version of the Quebecer, named Ivan Demidov.
Éric Bélanger, a former NHL player, sees Demidov as having potential comparable to Huberdeau, highlighting his versatility and dynamism. According to Bélanger, Demidov could become a true star, much like Huberdeau, who scored 115 points during the 2021-22 season. If these predictions come true, Demidov could soon become a key figure at the Bell Centre.
The 18-year-old Russian prospect is considered one of the most significant talents to join the Canadiens in a long time. His play has drawn numerous comparisons to established stars.
After being drafted in June, Demidov likened his style to Kirill Kaprizov and Jack Hughes. It will be interesting to see which version of Demidov we will have at the Bell Centre, hopefully in a year.
