Slafkovsky's nation is set to participate in the Olympic qualifiers at the end of August in a tournament taking place in Bratislava. Slafkovsky is eager to help his country in this competition and wants to play in the tournament.
However, according to information from a Slovak journalist, the Montreal Canadiens must give their approval for Slafkovsky to participate. The decision lies with the team's management.
They might very well choose not to grant this opportunity to the young winger so that he can properly prepare for the Canadiens' training camp.
No decision has been made yet, but the ball is now in Kent Hughes' court regarding whether Slafkovsky will be part of Slovakia's Olympic qualifiers for the 2026 Winter Games.
Regarding the August Olympic qualifiers for Slovakia's men's team: «I am ready to represent my country in the Olympic qualifiers, but that decision is not mine to make. The Montreal Canadiens' management will decide if I will participate. They need to tell me what they think.»
