The Canadian prospect David Reinbacher has ultimately declined his country's invitation to participate in the World Championship.
This tournament could have served as a stepping stone for the defenseman towards a potential debut in the NHL next season. However, before that, Reinbacher will attend the Canadian team's second training camp.
Meanwhile, another Canadian hopeful will don the colors of Austria for this global event taking place during the NHL playoffs.
The right winger began his junior career in Ontario before playing the last season in Switzerland. The 2022 3rd round pick shows promise, and he will have the chance to prove it with Austria at the World Championship.

It would have been interesting to see both Austrian compatriots on the same team, but that will have to wait for another opportunity. Perhaps with the Canadian team in the near future?
