Since the announcement of Patrik Laine's trade to the Montreal Canadiens, troubling revelations have emerged about his situation in Columbus.

According to journalist Aaron Portzline, Laine had become a problem within the Blue Jackets, to the point where four veterans of the team, including Cam Atkinson and Seth Jones, had requested his immediate removal from the locker room at the time.
These players had also targeted goaltender Elvis Merzlikins during that meeting, though he is still with Columbus.
Despite these tensions, the Blue Jackets' management seemed to side with Laine, opting to part ways with the players who expressed their dissatisfaction.
This trade highlights a tense situation in Columbus, where several members of the organization harbored resentment towards Laine.
Since his departure, numerous revelations have surfaced, exposing the internal difficulties the team faced regarding the player.
