Paul Byron on the verge of returning to the NHL and the Canadiens?
The Montreal Canadiens' farm team, the Laval Rocket, unfortunately failed to qualify for the playoffs due to two consecutive losses against the Belleville Senators last weekend.
This failure has notably caused a stir in the Montreal media, questioning the future of Jean-François Houle with the organization. After all, the head coach's contract will expire this summer, and many observers wonder if Kent Hughes will want to make changes behind the bench by bringing in his own coach.
In this regard, while appearing on the podcast "The Sick Podcast With Tony Marinaro," the Rocket's game announcer, Anthony Marcotte, made a significant statement by indicating that he expected personnel changes to be made in the coming weeks.
"I expect changes, I don't know if Jean-François Houle will return as head coach, but there will certainly be changes behind the bench. I really think there will be changes in the coaching staff." - Anthony Marcotte
It raises the question of whether this potential change will only be motivated by the Rocket's non-participation in the playoffs. If that's the case, the last two games of the season may have been very costly for the coaching staff, as the Canadiens' management seemed rather satisfied with the work done by Jean-François Houle and company during the regular season.
A new coach well known to Montreal fans?
Moreover, according to Anthony Marcotte's words, the Laval Rocket could potentially count on a former player of the Tricolore within its coaching staff next season. Indeed, he is convinced that Paul Byron, who is currently acting as a player development consultant, could well find himself behind the team's bench in 2024-2025.
"I wouldn't be surprised if Paul Byron is hired as a coach next year and that he is behind the bench of the Laval Rocket. I don't think it would be as head coach, but as an assistant coach, that would not surprise me." - Anthony Marcotte
Many fans of the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge would likely be very excited about the prospect of seeing Paul Byron behind the Rocket's bench. We remember how much he was appreciated by the public during his time with the organization, and it would be very pleasing to see him take on an even more significant role in developing the young prospects of the CH.
