During his first press conference with the Montreal media, Patrik Laine made a strong impression following his transfer to the Canadiens.

The Finnish forward, who was acquired just hours earlier, openly discussed the challenges he faced last season in Columbus, where he entered the NHL's player assistance program.
At 26, Laine explained that this step was necessary after he lost his enjoyment of playing hockey.
He emphasized that he has worked on himself and is now excited about joining a new team.
«One thing I've learned is that when you no longer enjoy what you do (in his case, playing hockey), you're probably not going to perform well, and that's where I was.

I hadn't been able to enjoy it for a while, but now I'm happier than ever. [...] I've worked a lot on myself to get to this point where I'm genuinely excited to start playing again, with a new team and new teammates.

I've learned a lot, and I'm more ready than ever to put it into practice.» - Patrik Laine

This introspection and his desire to return to a positive mindset reflect his maturity and readiness for the new season.
Canadiens fans can look forward to seeing Laine in the Tricolore uniform, eager to perform with renewed enthusiasm.
