On Friday, the Edmonton Oilers surprised everyone by announcing a major trade involving Matthew Savoie and Ryan McLeod.
The Buffalo Sabres traded their 9th overall pick of 2022, Savoie, for two depth players, Ryan McLeod and Ty Tullio.
Ryan McLeod, aged 24, amassed 34 points in 105 games this season, including playoffs, contributing 4 points in 24 playoff games.
This trade has sparked considerable interest, with some experts believing the Oilers made a good deal at the expense of the Sabres.
Meanwhile, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens continue their efforts to acquire Rutger McGroarty, selected 14th overall in 2022. McGroarty's value could be influenced by this recent trade, potentially making the deal more accessible for the Canadiens.
If Hughes manages to finalize this transaction at a favorable price, it could cap off a perfect summer for the Canadiens.
