Nicolas Beaudin surprised everyone by abruptly leaving the Montreal Canadiens organization a few weeks ago.
Although he was no longer part of the farm team's plans, his decision to leave was clarified during an interview on the "Sans Restriction" podcast.
Beaudin explained that he had requested to leave, subsequently receiving offers from European leagues.
"I told him, 'I'm leaving, I want to leave in the next few weeks.' Then I started receiving offers from Switzerland, Germany... And I thought that if I had to finish the season in Europe, might as well choose the option that pays the most. [...] But it wasn't just about the money. This team was top-2 in the league," said Nicolas Beaudin.
Ultimately, he chose a team in the Czech Republic, where he played nine games and collected three points.
His sudden departure was attributed to a strained relationship with the Canadiens' management, exacerbated by limited opportunities to play with the Rocket.
We wish him the best of luck for the rest of his career!
