The Devils have openly declared that they are open to trading their 10th overall pick. They are ready to acquire a veteran to accelerate the team's performance.
After a great season in 2022-2023, the Devils have just experienced a disappointing campaign. They have a very interesting young core, and the New Jersey team wants to take a leap forward next season.
At BPM Sports, columnist Mathias Brunet suggested to host Martin Lemay the name of Mike Matheson in a potential transaction involving this 10th overall selection.
While the host of "Le Retour des Sportifs" did not agree, Mathias Brunet was interested in letting go of the most used defenseman last season in order to talk on the draft stage with the last pick of the top 10.
Which side are you on? Yes, the 10th pick could allow the Canadiens to add another quality young player, but at the same time, who can replace Matheson? He performed well with a 62-point season and he doesn't cost much.
It's something to think about...
