The Carolina Hurricanes are considering parting ways with forward Martin Necas and defenseman Brett Pesce, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Necas, a restricted free agent, may be traded this summer due to financial disagreements.
His father has publicly stated that Necas wants a bigger role elsewhere.
Although rumors suggest a potential move to the Montreal Canadiens, Nick Kypreos of the Toronto Sun believes this is unlikely due to past tensions between the teams, particularly the hostile offer to Jesperi Kotkaniemi in 2021.
"Many clubs are calling the Carolina Hurricanes to inquire about trading for forward Martin Necas, including the Montreal Canadiens. Although the Habs like the player, there seems to be no chance of a trade with Montreal due to the tensions surrounding the hostile offer to Jesperi Kotkaniemi in 2021." - Nick Kypreos
Last season, Necas scored 24 goals and 29 assists in 77 games.
