Major decision by prospect Logan Sawyer and it changes everything for the Habs
The Canadiens' prospect Logan Sawyer has made an important decision regarding his future.
The third-round pick, 78th overall, has chosen to continue his development and progression in the NCAA next season.
He will join the strong program at Providence College. Sawyer was still unsure about his next destination following the recent NHL draft.
With the support of the Canadiens, his agent, and his family, the center has made what many consider the best decision possible.
Sawyer was injured this year, but he had the potential to be a second-round pick, according to projections.
He could turn out to be a valuable third-round selection for the Canadiens in the future. He needs to build strength and improve certain aspects of his game, but the potential is there.
What's also interesting about this decision is that Kent Hughes and the Canadiens will have the flexibility to sign him through to 2028. This is possible for NCAA players.
Unlike the QMJHL, OHL, and WHL, NHL teams have only three years after the draft to sign a prospect.
