The Montreal Canadiens have several hot topics on the table ahead of the upcoming season. Among them, the contracts of Slafkovsky and Guhle are included.

Both young players are eligible to receive new deals starting July 1st. Canadiens management has already indicated they want to address the contracts of the two young players very soon.

However, according to a report by Arpon Basu of The Athletic, there have been no discussions between the agents of the two former first-round picks and the Canadiens' front office.

It's understandable that the Canadiens have several matters to address and focus on at the moment. Draft preparations take up a lot of time.

Juraj Slafkovsky and Kaiden Guhle could very well receive new contract offers during the summer for the upcoming season. They could already have a new deal in place even before concluding their rookie contracts.

A situation to monitor in the coming weeks. It could also be advantageous for the Canadiens to sign both players before the upcoming season.
