The Canadiens organization has finally confirmed an important update regarding its coaching staff. A familiar face is returning behind the bench.

The Laval Rocket announced the comeback of Daniel Jacob as assistant coach for the Canadiens' AHL affiliate.
The Quebec native previously served in the same role for three seasons a few years ago and had just resigned from the Syracuse Crunch.
"The Laval Rocket announced today the hiring of Daniel Jacob as an assistant coach with the team. Prior to joining the Rocket, Jacob served as an assistant coach for the Syracuse Crunch and the San Diego Gulls in the AHL. He also held the same role behind the bench of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada for four seasons. The coach will be back behind the Rocket's bench, having spent three seasons (2018-2019 - 2020-2021) as an assistant coach with the Laval team."

This hiring, while not surprising, is beneficial for the Rocket. Daniel Jacob is part of the new wave of coaches known for their educational approach.
The head coaching position for the Rocket remains vacant. The Canadiens met with several candidates last week during the NHL Draft in Las Vegas. An announcement could come very soon.
