At the beginning of the summer, the Montreal Canadiens decided not to offer a qualifying offer to defenseman Mattias Norlinder, who was drafted in 2019.
However, it seems the team has not given up on Norlinder, as he recently received a new contract offer, according to his agent Claes Elefalk.
The 24-year-old Swedish player, who played six games with the Canadiens and spent most of last season with the Laval Rocket, is considering his future.
Meanwhile, Modo, the SHL team where Norlinder began his career, is interested in bringing him back for the upcoming season.
The Canadiens had drafted him following a strong season in Allsvenskan and his time with the Frolunda Indians in the SHL before his arrival in North America.
Thus, the player might be on the verge of returning to Europe while still being an option for the Canadiens.
