Kent Hughes, general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, recently sought to complete a major trade with the San Jose Sharks.
According to Darren Dreger of TSN, Montreal attempted to acquire the 14th overall pick in the draft. However, the Sharks opted for a more favorable trade with Buffalo, moving up to the 11th pick.
Following the unsuccessful attempt with San Jose, Hughes quickly adjusted his strategy and completed another trade today, this time with the Los Angeles Kings. Details of this transaction will be forthcoming.
It's worth noting that the 14th overall pick ultimately went to the Buffalo Sabres, along with the 42nd overall pick, in exchange for the 11th pick in the 2024 draft.
