Juraj Slafkovsky and Arber Xhekaj demolish Panthers' Steven Lorentz
During the game against the Florida Panthers last night, a very rare scene involving Arber Xhekaj and Juraj Slafkovsky occurred in the middle of the third period.
Indeed, the two Montreal Canadiens players combined their efforts to deliver a good old-fashioned "sandwich" check on Steven Lorentz, who had no choice but to collapse on the ice.
"Slaf and Xhekaj chose violence tonight." - Matt Drake
It's rare to witness sequences of this sort, but we must admit it was truly entertaining to watch! Has the Tricolore found itself a new two-headed monster? It seems so!
Honestly, we would not have liked to be in the Panthers forward's place. After all, we're talking about a forward who is 6 feet 3 inches and 230 pounds, and a defender who is 6 feet 4 inches and 240 pounds.
Let's just say the hit must have been quite solid!
See the sequence in question, right here:
During his post-game press conference, the Blue-White-Red's number 20 reflected on that famous check. The Slovak forward mentioned that seeing Arber Xhekaj coming at full speed, he felt very privileged not to be in the middle.
Certainly, it's very encouraging to see Juraj Slafkovsky using his size to his advantage and adopting an increasingly robust style of play. He clearly has the attributes to do so, as he continues to progress at a rapid pace.
