Kent Hughes continues to clean up the salary cap by dealing with some contracts he inherited when he joined the Canadiens.

The Hockey News has compiled a brief list of three players who are likely to leave the Canadiens organization during the upcoming season.
The list includes two defensemen and one forward. David Savard is at the top of the list. The veteran defenseman is still under contract for one more season and could attract interest from several teams as the trade deadline approaches.
He has already won a Stanley Cup and is valuable in various defensive situations.
Jordan Harris is also mentioned. The young defenseman seems to have been surpassed by newcomers like Lane Hutson and David Reinbacher in the defensive hierarchy. He has struggled to secure a permanent spot over the past two seasons.
Another team might be interested in acquiring him to fill gaps on their blue line. Jake Evans could also be traded by Kent Hughes.
The center is very good at faceoffs and on the penalty kill. With several centers like Owen Beck and Oliver Kapanen emerging in the organization, there could be an inclination to make room for them by trading Evans.
One thing is certain: the Canadiens will continue to take another step in their transition with their young core.
