In the last few hours, the Montreal Canadiens announced that veteran Jake Allen will start today to face the St. Louis Blues.

This announcement, which has sparked some controversy in connection with Cayden Primeau's inactivity, fuels the dissatisfaction among the Canadiens' fans.
What's going on with Cayden Primeau in the Canadiens' roster?
The young goaltender hasn't been put in the game for now 25 days, and since he will not participate in the game against the Blues, this total will continue to grow in the coming days.
The three-goalie situation greatly disadvantages one goaltender currently with the Canadiens, and that's Primeau.
Unlike him, Allen received his most recent start on January 27, the last matchup before the All-Star break.
It's clear that the 33-year-old goaltender needs to see action to increase the little value he has on the trade market, but this should absolutely not affect Primeau's development.
"I understand the decision to go with the veteran. However, it's been forever since Cayden Primeau has been in goal. Poor guy. They need to resolve the three-goalie situation quickly; otherwise, put Primeau on waivers and so be it if he's claimed. He's young, he needs to play!" - Marc-Olivier Beaudoin

Yes, we believe that Samuel Montembeault needs to see action, as he clearly has the role of the number one goaltender now. However, in a season where winning is of little importance, excessively playing the Quebecer is pointless, especially if it hinders Primeau's progress.
