NHL teams are considering submitting an offer sheet to Martin Necas, forward for the Carolina Hurricanes.
According to Pierre LeBrun of TSN, the high asking price from the Hurricanes might push some general managers to explore this option.
Necas will become a restricted free agent on July 1, unless he is traded and signs a contract with a new team.
Negotiations between Necas and the Hurricanes are at a standstill, and it is reported that the 25-year-old forward is unhappy with his current role on the team.
The Hurricanes' new general manager, Eric Tulsky, has received concrete offers for Necas, but none have been deemed satisfactory.
Necas, selected 12th overall in 2017, had an excellent 2022-2023 season with 71 points in 82 games. His production slightly decreased in the following season, with 53 points in 77 games.
