NHL Draft: The Canadiens' choice is made
With less than ten days remaining until the NHL draft, teams are finalizing their lists for this highly anticipated event.
Several first-round picks are on the market, making predictions uncertain.
The big question is what Kent Hughes will do with the fifth pick. Macklin Celebrini and likely Artyom Levshunov will no longer be available. Two other players will also be chosen before the fifth pick, but exactly who remains a mystery.
According to Marc-Olivier Beaudoin, the Montreal Canadiens are starting to focus on their candidates for this pick. Ivan Demidov and Cayden Lindstrom are at the top of the list, followed by Zeev Buium and Beckett Sennecke. The name Tij Iginla does not appear, which seems confirmed by informed sources.
"After discussing again today with my well-informed source (the one who told me about the strong interest of the #CH in Beckett Sennecke at the beginning of May, information that was later confirmed), the team has started to narrow down their list of candidates for the #5:
1- Ivan Demidov
2- Cayden Lindstrom
3- Zeev Buium/Beckett Sennecke
Tij Iginla would therefore not be 'in the race' at the time of writing.
Obviously, they will have other meetings in the 'war room' and a scout could strongly push for another player, but for now, it seems to be heading in that direction." - Marc-Olivier Beaudoin
It will definitely be something to watch on June 28.
