We have just learned of the sad news via TVA Sports about the passing of Jean-Guy Talbot.

Here is what can be read in the statement on this matter:
"Defender for the Montreal Canadiens during the great dynasty of the 1950s, Jean-Guy Talbot has passed away at the age of 91 late Thursday evening. An official confirmation from the Canadiens had not yet been issued at the time of writing these lines, but the former player's brother-in-law told TVA that Talbot was admitted to the hospital on February 16, and his family did not expect him to pass away so soon."

For those who may not be familiar with Mr. Talbot, here is a description of his achievements in the NHL:
"He was one of the pillars of the Tricolore, especially when the team won five consecutive Stanley Cups between 1956 and 1960. The Quebecer lifted the trophy seven times. Over his NHL career, which ended in the 1970-1971 season, he amassed 285 points, including 43 goals, and served 1006 penalty minutes, while collecting 30 points in 150 playoff games."

We wish to express our deepest sympathies to Mr. Talbot's friends and family, as well as to the Montreal Canadiens.
