More and more, Logan Mailloux's name is coming up in trade rumors. As they say, where there's smoke, there's fire.
Earlier this week, the site HABSolumentFan revealed that the Canadiens had turned down a trade that would have brought Trevor Zegras to Montreal during the last draft.
The player targeted by the Ducks and offered by Kent Hughes was Logan Mailloux. The young defenseman has a solid build, and the Ducks like this type of imposing player.
It was the Canadiens who reportedly rejected the deal. Now, columnist Simon 'Snake' Boisvert is adding more to the story about Mailloux.
According to him, Kent Hughes might be working on a trade similar to the Alexander Romanov deal. That is, using the market value of a young player and a high draft pick to facilitate a trade.
This could allow the Canadiens to acquire a first-round pick, for example, which they could then use in another trade to acquire a forward.
Like Romanov, who was traded to the Islanders for the 13th pick in 2022 before being sent to the Blackhawks to obtain Kirby Dach.
The Canadiens are overflowing with young blue-line talent. There won't be room for everyone.
Logan Mailloux might be the young defenseman who gets sacrificed. This seems to be becoming more and more likely...
This is what Simon Boisvert discussed, among other topics, with Tony Marinaro on his Sick Podcast:
