Grant McCagg, former scout for the Montreal Canadiens with solid sources in the NHL, has just disclosed crucial information about Kent Hughes.
According to an NHL source yesterday morning, McCagg reported:
" This comes from an NHL source this morning.
"We're hearing a lot of talk that it will be either Ivan Demidov or Zeev Buium with the fifth pick, but it's difficult to pin down. The Denver staff thinks he could be picked fifth. They give me the impression that Montreal really likes him."
The plot thickens. I think that raises the number of players the Canadiens might choose from five to about eight."
This statement adds intrigue to the draft situation. McCagg believes the Canadiens could be looking at as many as eight different players for their selection.
This revelation heightens interest in Zeev Buium, an 18-year-old left-handed defenseman who stands 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 183 pounds. He impressed with 50 points in 42 games this season in the NCAA, despite his youth.
