Jean-François Houle has finally been confirmed as the Rocket's coach for the next three seasons. But why was the negotiation process so lengthy?
A significant amount of time passed between the end of the Canadiens' season, that of the Rocket, and the announcement of Réjean Houle's son's contract extension. Why?
One might wonder if Houle was the Canadiens' top choice. The main party involved stated in an interview with Martin Lemay on BPM Sports that he was in daily discussions with the organization.
He also wanted to ensure that his assistant coaches would be returning. Jean-Charles Lajoie raised a very interesting point during his "JiC" show on TVA Sports.
According to the host, does the fact that the announcement took so long to come hide something?
Lajoie concluded his traditional "Season Ticket" segment on his show with this statement:
"Finally, if the Drummondville Voltigeurs had continued to dominate Canadian junior hockey by winning the Memorial Cup, would we be facing the same good news for Jean-François Houle tonight, or would Sylvain Favreau be on his way to becoming the new head coach of the Rocket?" - Jean-Charles Lajoie
Interesting, and the question deserves to be asked!
